Sant Andreu de la Barca is on the outskirts of Barcelona, it is a small, quiet industrial town with a lot of history. With around 27,000 inhabitants, we suggest you start the visit on foot from any of the hotels in Sant Andreu de la Barca.

In the historic center you can find monuments of interest such as the parish church and the bell tower. You can also visit some 15th century farmhouses, such as Can Preses and Can Archs. The municipality is full of modernist houses, especially on Joan Bosch street in the old town, looking at them is a real pleasure. Other places of interest are the Plaza de Charlie Rivell, the Rana fountain, the ice well or the Albareda de Castelao.

Start your visit at the 18th century parish church of Sant Andreu de la Barca. Located in the old town of the city, it is built on a Latin cross plan, with a single central nave, buttresses and side chapels of clear Neo-Renaissance inspiration. Inside, the octagonal dome of the presbytery stands out, with Renaissance elements.

From the Catalonia Bristol hotel in Sant Andreu de la Barca, we recommend walking to some of the most striking houses in the town, such as Can Ros Estrada and Jansana, with a clear modernist style, and Ca l'Armangué, a 16th century villa which highlights the entrance arch, with voussoirs.

Also, don't miss the hermitage of Santa Madrona, the Pedemonte Windmill Tower, the ice well, where ice prepared for use in the kitchen was formerly kept, and the Albareda de Castelao. Currently, one third of the surface of the municipality of Sant Andreu de la Barca is made up of forests and lush natural parks.

If you have time to visit this region, we recommend hiking in the Montserrat Monastery, which is located in a spectacular massif, just half an hour away by car. This monastery, along with others, makes up the Marian Route, of great cultural and religious value in Catalonia.

As in the entire province of Barcelona, in Sant Andreu de la Barca it is typical to eat cocas de recapte, esqueixadas, escalivadas and sausages such as butifarra. We recommend you book your stay in hotels in Sant Andreu de la Barca while the local tapas competition is being held in the month of May.
