What to visit in Sabadell? The traces of the Catalan industrial and bourgeois revolution are visible throughout the city. The work of the local modernist architect Juli Batllevell rises throughout Sabadell, with some of the most emblematic buildings being his, such as the Hotel Suís, the Lluch textile office or the Enric Casassas school. Also of clear modernist influence are the Town Hall building, the Principal Theater and the Central Market.
The industrial route, which you can start from the Catalonia Sabadell hotel or from the Catalonia Gran Hotel Verdi, runs through the 45 industrial chimneys that are preserved in the city. Start your day by visiting Vapor Codina, a factory complex that keeps its façade and chimney intact. The visit continues at the Turull factory house, which currently houses the Sabadell Art Museum. The Unnim building, the work of Jeroni Martorell, stands out for its majestic interior patio with stained glass windows. The Torre del Aigua, the Escaiola-Cal Ventura ceramic workshop or the Vapor Buxeda Vell are some of the best examples of industrial architecture that you can explore during your stay.
But Sabadell is not just about industry, the famous Sant Fèlix bell tower, from the 18th century, offers a spectacular view of the city and its surroundings. The apse of the church, from the 15th century, is the oldest building preserved in the city.
On your tour we also recommend seeing the Can Feu Castle, the Sant Oleguer ice well and the numerous chapels and hermitages, such as Sant Nicolau and Sant Pau de Riu-sec, or the Parc de la Salut. Also noteworthy are the mills in the Ripoll river park, which date back to the 10th century.
Furthermore, if you have enough time, we recommend hiking through the Monastery of Montserrat, which is located in the spectacular massif of the same name, just half an hour by car from Sabadell. The monastery is part of the Catalan Marian route, of great cultural and religious interest. As for popular festivals, the main ones are the Aplec de la Salut, in mid-May, and the Fiesta Mayor, at the beginning of September, so we recommend booking your stay in our hotels in Sabadell in advance for these dates.
